June 2023 – Energy Scout motivates Serbian ProCredit Bank to replace three diesel-fuelled fleet cars with low emission hybrid cars

The ProCredit Bank as part of the ProCredit Group is a development-oriented commercial bank with focus on small and medium sized enterprises (SME). The group has a long tradition as a bank for the agricultural sector and besides being the “Hausbank” for SMEs, it also offers a program for green financial products, e.g., loans for energy efficiency and renewable resources. In Serbia, ProCredit was the first big buyer of “green electricity”. Thanks to the contract signed with Elektroprivreda Srbije in 2019, the bank became the first domestic company to receive a guarantee of EPS origin that the electricity consumed is produced exclusively from renewable energy sources. Next to that, the head office building has a rooftop and façade solar power plant with 40 + 5 kWp, and in 2022, the company had installed 27 chargers for electric cars throughout Serbia, in addition to existing 15 chargers. Charging is provided to all citizens and completely free of charge, anytime 24 hours a day.

Energy Scout Stanislava Milošević, who is an engineer by education, works as a technical specialist of the bank’s environmental unit. As a practical project she proposed to replace three last Škoda Superb diesel vehicles in the company’s carpool by three plug-in hybrid vehicles of the brand Peugeot 508. According to the Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP)-definition the car only consumes 1.1-1.3 liters of gasoline per 100 Kilometers and has an electric range of 66 Kilometer. A more realistic approach was chosen by the Energy Scout, estimating the fuel consumption with 7 liters for the Skoda and 5,15 liters per 100 km for the Peugeot, assuming that it runs electric 50% of the time (the first 66 km) and is charged with 100% renewable energy.

In the first 3 months of 2023, the bank completed the exchange, now using only eco-friendly low-emission vehicles, with a total of 44 fully electric and plug-in hybrids.
