February 2026 – Slovak Energy Scouts from URBANIX install Photovoltaic System with battery

URBANIX, s.r.o. is a small energy and electrical engineering company with more than 13 years of experience and over 1,800 completed projects in the fields of electrical installations, LED lighting, smart control systems and photovoltaics. Although most operational activities take place at customer sites, the administrative building is intensively used by employees during working days, resulting in a continuous electricity demand.

An analysis of electricity consumption between revealed an annual demand of 6.71 MWh, resulting in electricity costs of 2,044.96 € and CO₂ emissions of approximately 1.12 tons per year. To reduce energy costs and environmental impact, the Energy Scouts team proposed the installation of a 5.67 kWp photovoltaic system combined with a 12.3 kWh battery storage. The system is designed to maximize on-site self-consumption while remaining scalable for future needs, including electric vehicle charging. The photovoltaic system is expected to produce 5.73 MWh annually, covering approximately 76 % of the company’s electricity consumption. This leads to a reduction in grid electricity demand to 2.37 MWh per year, a cost reduction of around 65 %, and annual CO₂ savings of nearly one ton. Beyond the immediate energy and cost savings, the project serves as a demonstration and educational installation. It supports internal training of employees and allows clients to experience photovoltaic technology in real operation, strengthening awareness of renewable energy solutions and energy-efficient practices.

In addition, the project supports URBANIX’s gradual transition towards electromobility. The company currently operates a fleet of four electric vehicles, which are increasingly integrated into daily business activities. The installed photovoltaic system enables partial coverage of charging demand with on-site renewable electricity, further reducing operating costs and indirect emissions. To strengthen this transition, a publicly accessible electric vehicle charging station will be installed at the company’s parking area in the coming weeks. This infrastructure will not only support internal fleet electrification but also provide charging services to visitors and the local community, reinforcing URBANIX’s role as an active promoter of sustainable mobility solutions.
