With around 2,600 employees, the listed NEUCA Group has been active in the healthcare sector for more than 30 years and is a market-leading pharmaceutical wholesaler combining the needs of pharmacists, pharmaceutical companies and patients in Poland. The company also conducts clinical research and manufactures its own medicines and pharmaceutical products. All the electricity it uses is certified green, and the company is increasingly building its own renewable energy generation capacity.

A team of five young employees, Paulina Karolewska, Paulina Kruszewska, Katarzyna Jaworska, Marta Lesiak and Michał Jaszczak, took part in the Young Energy Europe programme and qualified as Energy Scouts. Their practical project was aimed at achieving the above goal.

The headquarters of the NEUCA Group is surrounded by a large south-facing car park. This area will now be used for carport photovoltaic systems, which are expected to generate 541 megawatt hours of sustainable energy per year, enough to cover the electricity consumption of 277 average Polish households (1,950 kWh/year). In addition to avoiding the emission of 442 tonnes of CO2 per year, there are other benefits such as reduced grounds maintenance costs and avoidance of heat problems in summer, which saves fuel. The carport also provides protection from rain, hail, snow and heat. The increased comfort benefits both customers and staff. The positive experience on the first visit and the modern design can also have a positive effect on the brand image. The converted solar energy is primarily used in the facility itself.

In competition with other Energy Scout teams, the five employees of the NEUCA Group impressed the jury and won the Polish edition of the Best Energy Scout Awards 2023.
