Ten AHKs qualify 240 young professionals as Energy Scouts

Energy-efficient LED lighting in production processes, photovoltaic systems on factory roofs or waste heat recovery from compressors – the Energy Scout qualification always includes a practical project in the company. The topics vary, but the core idea is always the same:

  • They save energy and resources
  • They reduce environmental pollution and, above all, greenhouse gas emissions
  • They are cost-effective for companies, thanks to short payback periods and tailored investments

In 2024, 240 young professionals qualified as Energy Scouts in ten European countries as part of the Young Energy Europe project. The German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHKs) in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia offered the qualification for the first time in 2024. In Poland, Slovakia, Croatia and Serbia, the program has been running successfully since 2021. Since 2018, the community has grown to 1,377 Energy Scouts in the Young Energy Europe project.

What do the Energy Scouts do? After an approximately 4-day workshop program with lecturers in the local language, the Energy Scouts design a practical project in a team, calculate the savings potential and pitch in the national competition for the “best” practical project. Most of the projects are then implemented. In Poland, for example, 93% of the planned savings were achieved within 9 months.

We want to congratulate all participating companies and their Energy Scouts. We also want to thank the project managers in the AHKs and would also like to mention the award-winning Energy Scout teams. Click on the following pictures or on the texts below.
