Czech Energy Scouts 2018 awarded – mobility project wins

On December 12, the best among the first Czech Energy Scouts have been honored. The 24 Energy Scouts presented projects for energy and resource efficiency in their companies as the final part of their qualification in Young Energy Europe. Respectively three projects dealt with mobility or saving water in the companies. The optimization of lighting and compressed air systems was addressed twice each. A jury of experts selected the best three teams.

The winning project is targeting the mobility of the workforce, planned by the employees of the company Lear Corporation, Kateřina Kleinová, Lucie Fialová and Vendula Vokrouhlíková. With the measures implemented in this project, the company saved almost 1.4 million CZK in the 4th quarter of 2018 (around 50,000 €) already. This was achieved with low upfront investment, focusing on optimizing the employer-sponsored commuting to work with the right incentives. In the future, the implementation of the measures are expected to result in emission savings of approximately 145 tons of CO₂ per year.

The second place was awarded to a project, where heat is recovered from air compressors, which was developed by Jan Kuzdas of the company Agrostroj Pelhřimov. Thus, up to 641 MWh can be recovered each year, saving up to 127 tons of CO₂. This project is expected to pay back after a little more than 1 year already.

The third place was shared between two, a mobility project of Bidfood and an efficient use of water project by Adient.

We congratulate all Energy Scouts because they succeed in stimulating positive change in their companies!
